Notice Regarding Visa Fee Adjustment and
Ceasing of Visa Application by Mail (Apr 8th, 2003)
1. Whereas the U.S. Embassy and Consulates General in China raised U.S. visa fee to $100 as of Nov 1st, 2002, the Chinese Embassy and Consulates General in the United States are instructed by Beijing to adjust the Chinese visa fee for U.S. citizens on terms of reciprocity. The new rates, effective as of May 1st, 2003, are as follows:
Single Entry ---- $50
Double Entry ---- $75
Multiple Entry (6-month validation) ---- $100
Multiple Entry (12-month validation) ---- $150
2. After 911 and since the break out of US-Iraq War, strengthening national security has become an important goal and task of every country. Out of security concerns, the Chinese Embassy and Consulates General in United States will cease, on and from May 1st, 2003, the mail service (including express delivery) for application of Chinese visas.
Applicants are required to come to the visa office for visa application. If an applicant cannot come personally, he/she may entrust a relative, friend or travel/visa agent to come to the visa office for application process.
Notice Regarding the New Web Page of the Visa Office(Mar 6th, 2003)
The visa office launched its new web page on Mar 6th, 2003.
The most significant change in terms of content is the
standardization of instructions and forms. Now all the instructions and forms obtained from this new page
is the result of direct link from the corresponding information on the web page of the Visa Office of
the Chinese Embassy in Wasgington DC.
However the following requirements of this office must still be followed.
We do not accept any Certified Mail or Registered Mail. Please use express service,
for example Post Office Express Mail, FedEx, UPS, DHL, Airborne to ship your application.
Please also mark APPLICATION--VISA OFFICE on the envelope. Return envelope must be the above listed
express service too.
