Hindi Language Facts You Must Know
Hindi is one of the oldest languages in the world. It is the official language of Nepal, India, Pakistan and is a secondary language in many others. Other than English and Mandarin it is the most commonly spoken language in the world.
Some languages are old, and others are downright ancient. Hindi is derived from Sanskrit, one of the earliest languages used, it has been around for a long time. Far longer than English, French, Spanish, German or other most public schools offer in the United States today. Learning Hindi is can be used to read ancient classic literature in its original language, studying many ancient civilizations, and is needed to learn about the culture of one of the most populous countries in the world, India.
In high school many public schools in the United States allow students to learn German, Spanish or French. None of those are as widely spoken as Hindi. In fact, only English and Mandarin Chinese are more common throughout the world. Maybe public schools should consider adding it to their curriculum. Especially when you realize that it is relatively easy to learn due to the way it is organized. It would seem like learning Hindi would be important in an age where people can communicate with anyone throughout the world.
In addition to learning Hindi in order to study many cultures and to expose students to such a popular language, there is another important reason. Studying Hindi is almost a must for anyone interested in international business. Many companies from call centers, to software development houses, to Bollywood rely heavily on Indian employees. In order to communicate with these potential customers, employees, or just get a better perspective on such a large economy we must commit to learning their language.
The world is not as large as it once was. Today, people can talk to someone from the other side of the world at the push of a button. We can no longer ignore other cultures simply because they speak another language. We should strive to learn more about the ancient Hindi language and the culture of those that speak it. It is spoken more than most of the European languages public school offer now as foreign languages and is important to businesses throughout the world. In order to learn more about Hindi we may need to study from home until it becomes more common in the United States.
