© Reuters India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.95% – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the declined 0.95%, while the index declined 0.87%.

The best performers of the session on the were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:), which rose 2.00% or 2.25 points to trade at 114.95 at the close. Meanwhile, GAIL Ltd (NS:) added 1.87% or 2.70 points to end at 147.15 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:) was up 1.65% or 117.40 points to 7249.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:), which fell 4.77% or 52.05 points to trade at 1039.90 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:) declined 4.14% or 14.05 points to end at 325.15 and Wipro Ltd (NS:) was down 4.09% or 17.95 points to 420.85.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.48% to 115.50, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which was up 1.60% to settle at 7247.80 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which gained 1.24% to close at 1921.00.

The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was down 4.79% to 1039.75 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:) which lost 2.58% to settle at 385.60 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.86% to 4489.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1202 to 466 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1825 fell and 1052 advanced, while 135 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.84% to 25.5600.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.46% or 7.75 to $1692.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.88% or 1.20 to hit $65.03 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.11% or 1.41 to trade at $68.15 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.42% to 73.037, while EUR/INR rose 0.21% to 87.2140.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 91.933.
