Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the fell 1.49%.
The best performers of the session on the were Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (TYO:), which rose 6.77% or 132.00 points to trade at 2,082.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co., Ltd. (TYO:) added 5.98% or 195.00 points to end at 3,455.00 and SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (TYO:) was up 3.51% or 17.00 points to 502.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TYO:), which fell 4.76% or 560.00 points to trade at 11,200.00 at the close. Advantest Corp. (TYO:) declined 4.20% or 360.00 points to end at 8,210.00 and Kubota Corp. (TYO:) was down 4.16% or 106.50 points to 2,452.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2858 to 707 and 198 ended unchanged.
Shares in SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (TYO:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.51% or 17.00 to 502.00.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 4.01% to 20.22.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.67% or 0.81 to $120.70 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.67% or 0.83 to hit $122.24 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.20% or 3.70 to trade at $1,849.10 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.66% to 133.45, while EUR/JPY fell 0.46% to 141.93.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 103.09.
